The Vermont Fall Color Show

Hi all

We went leaf-peeping along the Green Mountain “spine” where the fall colors are in their full glory. Saturday was Sheldon to Stowe (ski resort-area). Monday we did Waterbury Village Historic District to the town of Bristol via Vermont 100.

Both routes were stunning in their color!

Saturday we encountered snow (1-2 inches) on “The Smugglers Notch” road which was picturesque against the fall colors. “The Notch” is a winding narrow road where trucks, buses and RVs are illegal because of tight turns and single lane driving in some places. People bet on these type vehicles getting stuck up there unable to make the turns. It is closed in winter at some point-similar to Trail Ridge Road in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park.

Sunday was a colorful drive at higher altitudes where fall colors are in full glory.
